What You Should Know About H1N1
January 1, 2010 by Carolin · 3 Comments
Why is H1N1 only dangerous in some countries?
It’s funny how schools and authorities urge us to take the H1N1 vaccine.
Other countries, like the Netherlands, have declared the swine flu to have passed. It’s gone, no need to worry anymore.
Here we need to worry about a second wave of the still so dangerous flu.
Was the flu really that bad?
Not as far as I’ve seen.
This was a really great business case for pharmaceuticals. Media blew up the dangers of the swine flu. Governments ordered vaccine for the whole population, sometimes even more. Massvaccination was being prepared. Untested vaccine was starting to be rolled out and the producers were not responsible for possible side effects.
Then something went wrong. The vaccine was not ready on time for the BIG outbreak.
Panic, among people who thought they desperately needed the vaccine. A clinic in Ann Arbor had to be closed down because of people panicing.
Imagine moms fighting to get a flu shot for their kids. “give my kid a shot!”
Panic, at all those governments, hostipals and entities who had ordered huge amount of vaccine. Who was going to pay for it?
The answer is simple, a possible second wave will make us scared enough to take the shot. Despite that the flu wasn’t that bad and despite that it already passed.
There is just one thing that just doesn’t make any sense.
You know how they say that people over 60 don’t have to worry about H1N1 because they have already been exposed to it.
Well, haven’t most of us been exposed to it by now?
It sure sounds like there not that much to worry about.
And what happened to letting your body take care of illness on it’s own?
Still no flu shots in our family!
Happy New Year!!

Go Green On Black Friday
November 27, 2009 by pam · 3 Comments
Today is Black Friday, the beginning of the holiday shopping season. For some, it is the best time to shop for gifts. Not a bad idea at all. But it’s also best if you start giving eco-friendly presents. You’re not only saving money, you’re also helping preserve the environment.
Thank You, Farmers!

While we gather with our loved ones around the Thanksgiving table and give thanks for the bountiful harvest, which is the source of the healthy foods that we are eating, let’s also thank the farmers who are responsible for growing these healthy produce.
