I am living proof that baking soda toothpaste works.
I’ve been using a natural, organic baking soda toothpaste for 5 months now and my teeth both look and feel great.
The reason that baking soda whitens you teeth is that the cleaning particles (baking soda) are very small and therefore gets into smaller spaces. You can see the effect fast but don’t expect sparking white celebrity teeth.
It your teeth are badly stained the first effect and be that you get colored spots on you teeth. These spots that are made of colored substances (from coffee, tea white etc) that are coming out of smaller spaces that have never been cleaned properly before. You an actually peel it off or it will simple come off by it self.
You can imagine that you teeth will become a lot whiter after cleaning even the tiniest crack.
Baking soda is abrasive and therefore I’ve chosen to use a product from a company that I have very good experience with.
I don’t think I would risk brushing my teeth with just baking soda as destroyed enamel can not be restored.
Other ways to naturally white your teeth are lemon and strawberries. I would NOT recommend try that as the acid is very bad for your enamel.

Strange that baking soda whitens teeth! The typical formulation at the dentist is to use a peroxide solution, which isn’t acidic or basic at all. It’s an “oxidation” effect, a very reactive chemical that chemically takes away the staining on the enamel surface. I think some experience sensitivity in the gums as a side effect.

Careful when using baking soda because as you said it can destroy enamel which never be restored since our body cannot properly replace it. I’m not sure if baking soda in your toothpaste is the best option for whitening your teeth because over a long period of time, the enamel will eventually break down. Just a warning.
Hi Chirs,
Thanks for the comment.
Can you recommend a good non toxic substance to clean the teeth?

Baking soda toothpaste is something worth recommending, while a healthy diet habit and the teeth brushing methods are also important.
