Watch Out for the Relationship Gene
By Carolin
Welcome back!

An international research team has found a gene that doubles the risk for men to have problems in their relationships and go through marriage crisis.
It is the gene variant 334 allele that researchers found has a negative association with men’s relationship with their spouses.
- Men who carried two copies of allele 334 were more than twice as likely (34%) to have relationship problems, such as facing threat of divorce, as men who had did not carry it (15%).
- Women married to men with one or two copies of allele 334 were more dissatisfied with their relationships than women married to men not carrying this gene variation.
- Men with two copies of allele 334 were almost twice as likely to be unmarried (32%) as men with no copies (17%).
It is believed that 40% of all men carry 334 allele.

Great site. I particularly like the way you lay out your points. I’ll keep watching for more.
Thats an interesting point about realtionship problems, most of the people don`t care about their gene. By the way… like this blog too. Great kind of writing.
Love is the strangest thing, there are so many promises, the romance, the love, taking care of each other forever all well intentioned. And then there is the grass in greener on the side of the fence effect, where the addiction to be on the look out is always there. And no matter how hard they try to be faithful, there is a struggle to either stay out of a physical relationship, and if it is not physical there is an emotionall pull towards someone. It is as if there is anyway to distract from the apathy of their own relationship. The sense of dissatisfaction never settle and causes a real torment for the person and great suffering for the partner who does not understand or suffers the consequences.
Often, if you look at family history there has appeared to be a pattern, either genetics or a pattern in the family structure.
And another factor that has been contributed too the situation is the internet, which has allowed for online affairs and addiction, which has opened a whole other can of worms.
But seek counselling for addiction or disorder and find away to discuss what is going on with your partner and seek the support you need.

It’s tough maintaining a relationship and the problem is that most people don’t want to compromise or work things out. I think we live in a throw-away culture and for many people that alo includes their relationships!
