Food allergies causes irritation, and increases hyperactivity, but it may not necessarily cause ADHD.

The forebrain is the area in the brain that controls thoughts, behaviour, and emotion. Preliminary study has shown that some people with ADD/ADHD have forebrains that are about 10% smaller than those without the disorder. This difference in size could account for the impulsivity and behavioural problems experienced by children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD.

A diet change is helpful because it creates a new experience which in a way rewires the brain. This happens also in any other productive change which provides new experiences.

Health professionals apply a combination of strategies in managing ADHD teens which include parenting, behavioural, academic strategies as well as medication. A diet change may be added in combination with these treatments.

Now this is an interesting concept. Too much sugar certainly has an effect, I've watched it happen too many times, but maybe it's just mimicing ADHD?

Definitely an area that needs more confirming research.
