Something has been bothering me for a couple of days now. Just now I realized what it is:
Stress
We can have tons of things to do, work hard and feel great. Some people call it positive stress; some call it the effect of adrenaline. That is not what I’m talking about.
All of a sudden you’ve crossed the invisible line. You get tried, irritated and feel like you’re not getting enough done. It’s the real, negative stress that has caught up with you.
Stress that makes you tense, tired, nervous and in the long run can cause serious health problems.
We’ve all been there:
- The positive rush is over and you become anxious and afraid that you might not succeed.
- It get difficult to focus and prioritize and you end up working really hard but still lacking the feeling of accomplishment.
- You’re really tired but still might find it hard to fall asleep
- And as your body is screaming for help the quick stimulators start calling: Sugar, Caffeine and Alcohol.
It can be so hard to turn it around. But this time instead to turning to quick stimulators that actually make the body more stressed I will make a conscious choice and break the vicious circle.
What we really need when we are stressed is:
- Foods that give us extra energy. - Super foods filled with antioxidants that will give your body a real energy kick.
- Physical exercise Nothing gives you as much relaxation as really though workout. And it doesn’t have to take up a lot of time either. More and more programs are coming out that show better results in less time .
- Mental relaxation and meditation This will not only help you focus and give you more energy for most people it also reduces the need to sleep.
- Enough sleep Getting enough sleep is vital for your health. It gives your body its necessary rest and your brain a chance to sort things out.
- Last but not least laugh Laughing is a great way to relax. Before you go to bed put a big smile on your face and then do, read or watch something that makes you laugh.
And now watch Ms Rabbles stress management and laugh.
