Normally I’m not too impressed with our food administrations.
How come the red food color amaranth is bad for Americans but perfectly ok for Europeans?
Well, I’m currently in India and I’m pretty sure there are very few rules on what chemicals are added to the food here. There are no traffic rules that anyone cares about so why should there be rules regulating food.
Most of the food is of course real whole food with fantastic taste. But what about the bread I buy in the super market. Or the sweets my children ask for that almost glow in the dark from their strong colors.
My kids are 4 and 5. Should I tell them they cannot have any sandwiches or sweets during the 6 weeks we’re here in India?
I can’t do that. As many young children they are very picky about their food and it was not their choice to go here.
Instead I let them eat sandwiches and some occasional candy and I in between stuff them with fresh fruits and vegetables. At the same time I’m really glad that there are administrative functions regulating what is added to the food back home.
