Can a single meal be dangerous?
According to TIME magazine it takes only one high-fat, high-sugar meal can trigger a biochemical cascade, causing inflammation of blood vessels and immediate, detrimental changes to the nervous system.
Sounds pretty scary. Does this mean that we ALWAYS have to watch out with EVERYTHING we eat?
Of course not. I want to live a long healthy life and I’m really conscious about what I eat but still I’m only human.
I believe in the 80 / 20 rule.
If you eat healthy 80 percent of the time you can eat unhealthy the other 20.
Our bodies have a fantastic way to cleanse, heal and rebuild. It can take care of some unhealthy food.
I even believe that the high demands we put on ourselves in one of the reasons that most diets fail.
The most important thing is not to forget to eat healthy most of the time. It’s important to give your body a chance to detox. There are 2 very simple ways to make sure you detox on a daily basis.
1. The first and most important thing is to drink enough water. How much you need depends on how much you exercise and in what climate you live. But you need roughly 8 glasses of water a day. Read more about the health benefits of water here.
2. The other very effective way to assure a daily detox is to eat raw green vegetables. Chlorophyll is the substance that gives plants and vegetables the color green. It helps our body to cleanse through our blood, our stomachs, our intestines and our livers.
