To make a powerful medicinal tea it’s usually necessary to use fresh herbs. The brewed tea is fragile and will only last a day. For your taste buds the fresher the herbs, the more flavorful and rich the tea will be.
Most herbal teas are made from dried flowers, stems and leaves.
Whenever you can choose a loose tea over tea bags. Most tea bags are filled with really tiny pieces of tea leaves. When the leaves are broken up the oils in them evaporate.
Brew herbal tea
Use 1 tablespoon of herb blend per cup of water.
Put herb into cold water and bring to a boil. As soon as the water begins to boil, cut heat and steep 15-20 minutes, with a lid covering the tea. After 15-20 minutes, strain the tea though a fine-mesh strainer, and into your cup or pot.
