If you’re suffering from hay fever your are probably familiar with antihistamine drugs.
The thing is that antihistamine drugs can cause drowsiness and are hard on the liver. A liver which is already overloaded by the high histamine levels in the blood vessels. Not many know that something as simple as Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and a natural remedy to hay fever.
With no side effects or risk for overdosing I definitely prefer vitamin C to commercial drugs.
But how much do you really need?
Of course this depends on your immune system and how severe your allergy is but I’ll tell you how it works for my husband. My husband is allergic to birch pollen and last weekend there were very high levels of birch pollen where we live in south Sweden. On Saturday morning my husband woke up with a runny nose. With breakfast he started taking vitamin C. He took 500 mg every half hour until lunch. This was enough to keep him symptom free all of Saturday AND Sunday.
Since vitamin C is water-soluble there is no need to worry about overdosing. If you get diarrhea, you’re body is telling you that it’s had enough for the day.
