Whether you are following an exercise program or trying to increase you natural exercise an easy tool to measure your progress is a pedometer. With a pedometer, you can track the steps you take each day. The pedometers count steps. Step counting is a great way to keep active, aiming to increase your towards a goal of 10,000 steps per day. The pedometer is a simple tool and a great motivator.
Here is a simple program to get started on increasing you physical activity through walking.
Week 1
- Wear your pedometer and follow your daily routine.
- Before going to bed record your daily activity
- Record your activity every day during the week
Week 2
- Set a goal that is equivalent of the best day during week 1 and make sure you keep this level as a minimum.
- Create a routine that will allow you to reach your goal.
- Before going to be record your daily results.
Week 3
- Set a goal that will increase your activity from week 2. Depending on your starting point 10-20% is a good goal to set.
- Before going to bed record your daily activity
Following weeks
- Analyze daily routine for success
- Increase your goal weekly and eventually you will reach maximum potential at 6,000 to 10,000 steps a day.
