Get rid of fungus between your toes
January 31, 2007 by Carolin · Leave a Comment
Fungal infection can affect many different parts of the skin. One of the most common is Tinea Pedis or Athletes foot or simply fungus between your toes.
It is spread through direct contact e.g. through bare feet in bathrooms and health clubs. It may affect the sole of the foot but usually it starts growing between your toes.
So what do I do about it?
I use honey.
Raw honey or any honey that has not been heated (it doesn’t necessarily have to say RAW on the pot).
Honey is a very effective anti fungal and can be used on any fungus. Simply apply some on the effected area once or twice a day and you will soon notice the effect.
Honey is a also great to relieve colds.
To prevent toe fungus, change you socks regularly and make sure you dry between your toes after having a shower.
The only thing you need to remember is to keep honey away from children under 1.
Are you having a hard time to motivate yourself to exercise?
Exercising together with someone else is a great motivator.
Playing tennis together or simply having an appointment at the fitness club.
However, sometimes it’s not very practical. You might have different schedules; it might be hard to find time to go to the fitness club, etc.
A great way to get the motivation of exercising together but still doing it in your own time is to set up a walking competition. It is very simple. Just get some friends together (as many as you like), set a goal, use a pedometer and start walking. Your goal can for example be to walk the most in a month or to walk the distance to China. Everyone uses their pedometers and record on a daily basis how many steps they take. If you all pitch in with a couple of dollars the winner can get a nice price. It’s fun and all you need is a pedometer . It’s a great thing to do with a couple of colleagues. You can get the distance between cities here.

Do you want to live to be 100?
January 21, 2007 by Carolin · Leave a Comment
Do you want to live to be 100? I guess most of us answer, yes if I’m happy and healthy. Researchers everywhere are trying to find the key to longevity.
Lower your body temperature and you will live longer. How on earth do you do that? Move to Alaska and don’t wear a coat!?
One of the latest findings is pretty interesting though. An organism will live up to 60% longer if you cut food supply with 30-40%. 60% !!!!! And we do eat faaar to much, so why not. The best thing about it is that grape seeds seems to have the same effect so I guess we all have to eat lots of grapes and grape seed extract from now on.
Raw food weekend, body cleanse for rookies
January 15, 2007 by Carolin · 6 Comments
Does the thought of fasting make you feel hungry? Here is a great and above all EASY way to start a healthier life and clean your body from toxins: A RAW FOOD WEEKEND. There is no long, overwhelming commitment. No worries about being too hungry as you will eat solid food full of fibers. It won’t affect you work since you will only change your diet during the weekend.
Sounds promising? Well it is. Everyone can follow through with this raw weekend.
You will need to do a bit of planning:
- Set a date. Choose a weekend where you have no social activities that involve eating planned. Doing this weekend cleanse while you have a barbeque at the neighbors is just making life hard on yourself. So find an appropriate weekend and block it in your calendar.
- Decide on what to eat. Raw foods are foods which have never been heated above 116 Fahrenheit or 46 °Celsius. This does not only exclude cooked food but also dairy and most juices since they have been pasteurized. You should eat fresh raw vegetables, fresh raw fruit, raw nuts and sprouts. You should drink freshly squeezed juices and as much clean water (spring water or filtered water) as you possibly can. Since you will eat sprouts start by choosing what to sprout. I recommend chickpeas, lentils, radish seeds and alfalfa seeds. The reasons I recommend these are because they taste good and are easy to sprout.
- Shop for food. Since it takes a couple of days for your seeds to sprout you need to do you initial shopping at least 5 days before you start your cleanse.
- Prepare and plan. Now it’s time to get started. Follow the steps for easy sprouting. Also decide what else to eat. Will you eat salads or do you feel inspired enough to surf the web and search for exciting recipes for raw food.
- Shop the fresh food. Now its time to make a real shopping list it should look something like this:
-
- Local fruits that are in season
- Your favorite fruits and vegetables
- Root vegetables
- Grapes or other sweet fruit
- Raw nuts (not roasted of salted)
- If you like vinegar on you salad get some raw apple cider vinegar
Whenever you can and the price is within reason choose organic food. If possible go to the local farmers market to do your shopping. Here you will find good quality and really great tasting products. Buy more than you think you will eat. It’s very hard to find yourself hungry in a kitchen full of forbidden food.
When you leave the house during your cleanse always bring some water and a fruit, some nuts or something else to snack on. This way you a less likely to fall for the temptation of buying some foods you are not supposed to eat.
So now you are ready to go. After this weekend you will feel lighter, have more energy and have less toxins in you body.
Caution
Eating raw food is a much easier way to clean your body than fasting. But if you are sick or recovering form illness, consult with your physician first. Never do a body cleanse if you are pregnant or lactating.
Changing your diet to raw food may cause gases. This is because the fibers in raw foods are intact, unlike cooked foods’ fibers, which are broken down by heat.
Eat yourself to sleep
January 14, 2007 by Carolin · 7 Comments
Are you having a hard time falling asleep at night? Or do you wake up in the middle of the night and just lie there tossing and turning?
Don’t turn on the light. Don’t turn on the TV. It would just wake you up even more.
Instead get up and eat:
Eat a banana and some dates
Or some unsweetened yogurt with nut butter.
The calcium and magnesium in the food will help your body relax.
When you’re done get back to bed and relax in the dark.
It won’t take long before you’re fast asleep.
