Fight Your Cold

December 15, 2006 by Carolin · Leave a Comment

First and foremost I believe that one of the most important aspects in helping your body to fight disease is cleaning your body. Or flushing out the toxins or bacterial or what ever it is that is causing trouble. Basically I mean drinking water. Drink as much as you possibly can, it helps your body to clean out the system. If you’re physically up to it you might even consider fasting. I’ve had a bad cold totally disappear through a water fast that lasted from lunch until the next morning.

The first thing we think of as cold protection is probably vitamin C. Since vitamin C is water-soluble it’s not stored in the body and therefore it needs to be added on a daily basis. A grown-up might need 1000-3000 mg per day and the need will be twice or three times as much if the immune system is attacked. It’s better to spread out you vitamin C intake during the day than to take all of it at once. If you get diarrhea then stop since that is your body telling you that it’s had enough vitamin C.

Garlic is often called natures own antibiotics. Since garlic has both antibacterial and antiviral properties it is great for any cold or flu. It also removes mucus. It can be eaten raw, cooked in food or taken as a supplement.

Honey is antibacterial and antifungal properties and is great for fighting a cold. However honey should not be heated. So it’s important that you buy a good quality honey or raw honey. If you take honey in your hot drink don’t add it until the fluid is cold enough to drink.

Foods that remove mucus are: garlic, watercress, chicken and raspberries

There are also a number of foods you should avoid when you have a cold.
These are:

  • Sugar (your immune system can work poorly for up to 5 hours after eating sugar)
  • Caffeine
  • Alcohol
  • Dairy (if you have a lot of mucus)

Easy Exercise to Cure Stiff Neck

December 14, 2006 by Carolin · Leave a Comment

I used to wake up every morning with a .

For years I slept with a pillow from Tempur and yes that certainly made it better but it still wouldn’t go away. I was even considering buying a new bed.

Then something happened. A month ago I read a book about . In they use zones on your hands and feet to massage or remove blockage in different parts of the body. It was a very interesting book and it had a small part with everyday exercises.

I tried all the exercises and found one that works wonders for me. It is almost ridiculously easy and takes about 1 minute. I do it before I get out of bed in the morning. It’s actually a great way to wake up. The best of it all is that my disappeared within days.

Here is the exercise I do lying in bed:

  • Begin with your right foot. Put your right foot comfortably up in the air supporting it with your left knee.
  1. Bend your toes down and up a couple of times.
  2. Then try to stretch out your toes side wise away from each other.
  • Do the 2 exercises a couple of times depending on how it feels.
  • Finish with rotating your foot from the ankle clockwise and then in the other direction. (This part is actually for you back but it’s very comfortable)
  • Repeat the exercise with your left foot.

In the base of the toes, where they bend, represents your neck. The first time I tried this my toes cramped and I was not able to spread them at all. But it quickly improved and with the improvement my stiffness disappeared.

No more for me!

Well, I read and try so much regarding natural wellness I figure this is the fastest and easiest way to share my experiences with others. I can not guarantee that what works for me will work for you. I’m just sharing what I’ve tried, red and heard.

As always, speak to your physician before making any considerable changes to your lifestyle.
