Vitamin B, Why It’s Important
Vitamin B is one of the most important vitamins that the body requires. There are eight different types of Vitamin B. The most common and well know is Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 like all other Vitamin B complex vitamins is water soluble. It has a key role in the creation of blood and is also key in how well the brain and the nervous system functions.
Different types of Vitamin B
Vitamin B1 – also called Thiamine is used to treat Thiamine deficiency. Thiamine deficiency can lead to several conditions like Beriberi, Wernicke-Karsakoff syndrome, cataracts and Alzheimer disease. Thiamin is also considered an anti-stress vitamin because it helps the body stay strong when under stressful conditions.
Vitamin B2 – also known as Riboflavin helps the body metabolize fats and protein and helps the body by getting rid of free radicals in the system. People in the US rarely suffer from a deficiency of this vitamin because our food sources provide an adequate supply.
Vitamin B6 – also called Pyridoxine helps the body create neurotransmitters which are the chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to another. This vitamin is also key in breaking calories down into energy and creating red blood cells.
